The arrival of 50 life-sized bottlenose dolphin sculptures across Aberdeen has captured the hearts of the local community in a large scale tourism and charity project.
The Wild Dolphins project organised by Wild in Art will raise money for the ARCHIE Foundation at the Royal Children’s Hospital, and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation, when the sculptures are auctioned off at the end of August.
Visitors and the local community can embark on a dolphin spotting adventure tour thanks to Visit Aberdeen who sponsored the trail map and mobile app, which is available for Apple and Android. VisitAberdeen Chief Executive Steve Harris says:“The Wild Dolphins project adds something new and exciting to the city, and with the map and mobile app it means people can really get involved and become part of the initiative.
“Its been fantastic to see the positive support the project has received from the local people and businesses of Aberdeen.”
The colourful additions positioned around the city including the Beach Esplanade, Duthie Park, Castlegate, Marischal College and Aberdeen University will remain pride of place until the end of August when they’ll be auctioned off for the two charities.
VisitAberdeen is a partnership between Aberdeen City Council and the industry including Aberdeen City and Shire Hotels Association and Aberdeen Inspired.
