Duathlon fundraiser fun

Fraserburgh District Flying Club held a race at the end of the month from Brechin.

The race on Saturday July 30 took place with the winning bird belonging to J Strachan of Fraser Crescent Inverallochy.

Members of the flying club recently took part in a recent duathlon to raise money.

Gillian Strachan, Michael Strachan and A Higgins took part in the Highland Cross Duathlon. The duathlon is a race which the competitors must run 20 miles and then cycle for 30 miles.

The Highland Cross Duathlon has been running for almost 30 years having started in 1983. The event raises money for various charities with this years charities being; The Shirlie Project, ILM (Highland), Highland BlindCraft, Children’s Hospice Association Scotland and Lochaber Action on Disability.

This year saw Pippa Middleton take part. Gillian actually beat Pippa by 7 finishing the race in just over five hours.
