Academy are Rock Challenge runner-up

Fraserburgh Academy were awarded overall second place in last weeks 2015 Be Your Best Rock Challenge.

In an evening of outstanding talent and creativity Mackie Academy, Westhill Academy, Westhill and Turriff Academy, along with the Broch travelled to the Caird Hall in Dundee to compete.

Fraserburgh Academy’s explosive opening scene immediately captured the audience’s attention as their menacing characters commanded the stage space.

There was the choreography itself which was executed at all times with whole hearted conviction and precision whilst the pulsating soundtrack and impressive lighting design moved the scene at great speed.

Fraserburgh’s performance was by no means threadbare and the set was constantly and seamlessly transitioned throughout to show the dark and dangerous forest was always lurking nearby.

Commenting on the result, Councillor Charles Buchan said: “I am delighted to see how well the Aberdeenshire Schools performed, and in particular, Fraserburgh Academy coming in second overall, as well as gaining many specialised awards.”

Fraserburgh were narrolwy beate Arbroath High School but picked up a number of other awards.
