Christmas time fun at Rathen School

Rathen Primary School were very festive this year taking part in many activities around the Christmas period.

Rathen School Choir took part in the Christmas Service at Fraserburgh Deep Sea Mission on Sunday December 4. They read the story and sang son’s from this years nativity play, “Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh” by Alison Hedger. They also sang to additional songs, “The Holly and Mistletoe and “Happy Birthday” by “Out of the Ark” productions.

Furthermore, the choir sang a variety of Christmas carols and songs around Rathen Village on Monday December 19.

There was also a Christmas Dress rehearsal for the school’s Christmas Service which was held on Wednesday December 14. The school received a card from a lady who wrote: “Your concert was really great. The children were first class.”

The Christmas Service collected £345.49 which was shared between Rathen West Church and Rathen School. The school intends to use the money to pay for the copyright licensing for the play and songs used for the service.

Highlights of the service are recorded on the Christmas Service 2011 DVD which is for sale at £5 each. The school would like to thank Mr Neaves who edited and copied the performance.

For a Christmas treat, a magician visited Rathen School on Monday December 19. The school would like to thank the Fundraising group for providing this treat. All the pupils enjoyed the magician including Cora Blix who said: “ I liked the songs. They were really funny,” and Milly Buchan who commented: “ I thought it was really good. The dummy was funny.”

In regard to Primary One Enrolment, registration week is January 30th to February 3rd 2012. All the children who reach their 5th birthday by February 28th are invited to register for Primary 1 admission in August 2012.

Please take your child’s birth certificate along to the school on the enrolment week as evidence of their date of birth.
