The Depute Head Teacher of Fraserburgh Academy has attained two major professional qualifications recently.

Pauline Buchan achieved a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Aberdeen and also the Standard for Headship qualification.

Mrs Buchan was presented with her Standard for Headship award last month in Edinburgh by Tony Finn, Chief Executive of the General Teaching Council for Scotland, and Dr Alasdair Allan, Scottish Minister for Learning.

The awards are the culmination of four years of Masters level study at the University of Aberdeen. Mrs Buchan’s research was based on pupil leadership.

Commenting, Mrs Buchan said: “Through the degree and Standard for Headship, I feel it’s helping me to use what I’ve learned to improve my own practice.

“The pupils were involved with my research and they have benefited from it. I wanted to complete these qualifications to improve outcomes for pupils at Fraserburgh Academy.”
