Fraserburgh Academy pupils struck a chord at the Aberdeenshire Youth Orchestra’s performance last weekend providing the largest number of performers on stage.

The orchestra played at Inverurie Academy on Sunday June 26 with many of the principal roles held by Broch students.

Morven Hollick and Georgia Abernethy were in the violin section while Emily Webster and Rebecca Watt played trumpet.

Principal cello was played by Owen Gibson while Marcus Adams was on principal double bass.

Principal trumpet was Dean Gibson and principal percussion was Morgan Brougham.

Fraserburgh and District councillor Charles Buchan, Vice-Chair of the Education Committee, attended the performance and said he was “delighted at the very high quality” of the show.

He said that among other recent successes Fraserburgh Academy is now “making a huge contribution to serious orchestral music.”
