Fiona Ritchie started off as a student and ended up with a job at the college.

Little did Fiona Ritchie know that when she applied for a course at North East Scotland College’s Fraserburgh Campus she would end up working there!

Fiona was brought up in Rosehearty and attended Fraserburgh Academy. She left after fourth year and found employment in a local shop. She’d been there about two years when she decided to return to college and get a qualification.

She said: “I applied to college and was accepted onto the NC Administration course. My employer very kindly allowed me to work part time while I attended college.”

Fiona had almost completed the NC when an opportunity to work for the college emerged.

“The college was advertising for an Administration Support Assistant. The job is quite unique as in addition to placements you study HNC Administration & IT over two years allowing you to earn while you learn!”

She said, “I was absolutely thrilled to get the job, and even more so when they said I could continue studying.”

Fiona hopes to advance her studies further, but in the meantime is enjoying her job.
