A new website packed with information and advice for parents on how to discuss alcohol with their children has been launched by the three Alcohol and Drug Partnerships of the North-east.
The website - www.meetthehendersons.org.uk - builds on the successful radio ‘soap’ about the Henderson family, which was developed by Northsound Radio in partnership with the three Alcohol and Drug Partnerships in the North-east. It was broadcast last summer to make parents aware of their own drinking behaviour and how this can affect their children.
“The greatest influence on youngsters’ behaviour comes from what they learn from seeing their parents’ attitudes towards responsible drinking,” said Aberdeenshire ADP team lead Wayne Gault.
“Alcohol doesn’t have to lead to problems if we all take small steps to ensure that if we are drinking, we drink within the sensible drinking guidelines – clear information is given on www.meetthehendersons.org.uk”
The website will provide facts, help and support for parents as they discuss the topic of alcohol with their children. Information is broken down into age stages, so that every parent will find something of interest and relevance when visiting the site.
