A North-east MSP has raised concerns about funding for Banff and Buchan College.
Alison McInnes MSP says that unless action is taken, student places and courses may be put at risk.
After speaking about college funding in parliament recently, Alison McInnes said: “It’s not enough for Mike Russell to ‘trust’ that new formulas for college funding will be fair for the North East.
“The Scottish Government’s proposed budget will put in place swingeing cuts to Scotland’s colleges at a time when more people than ever are looking to further their education and training.
“Banff and Buchan – like all Scotland’s rural colleges – receives extra funding because of its unique role in the local area.
“But the cuts are already forcing Banff and Buchan College to merge with Aberdeen. If that means they also lose out on their rural funding grant, it will put even more student places, courses and vital opportunities for Aberdeenshire’s young people under threat.”
