Two students from Banff and Buchan College have recently been awarded the prestigious ‘Fiona Fuller Business Scholarship’by Atkins, the UK’s largest design, engineering and project management consultancy.
The sponsorship, which is now in its fourth year ,was awarded to two full-time HND Business students - Lauramay Pirie from Peterhead and Matthew Byiers from Crimond.
The students, both in their second year, were presented with a cheque for £500 each by Atkins’ Consultancy Director, Conor Crowley. The selection process involved students completing an application form and those short listed were then invited to attend an interview.
Conor commented: “We were extremely impressed by the standard of applicants and their interview presentations.”
Curriculum Leader for Business and Management, Fiona Daniel, said: “The Atkins Scholarship Scheme provides a unique support network to engineering and business students at Scotlands top five universities and key colleges including Banff and Buchan. The Business Scholarships recognise the important role that Banff and Buchan College plays in educating those who are keen to enter the oil and gas industry, by offering scholarships to successful full-time second-year Business students.
Both Lauramay and Matthew richly deserve these prizes.”
The scholarship awarded to Robert Gordon University went to Jack Walker, a former Banff & Buchan College student who successfully graduated in HND Business last year.
