This year's UCAN Fireworks Against Cancer event will take place at New Deer showground on October 22.

The Fireworks Against Cancer group in support of cancer charity UCAN will hold a fireworks spectacular in New Deer later this month.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 22, at New Deer showground, with gates opening at 4.30pm and the fireworks lifting off at 8pm.

This year’s event is sponsored by Lovie Quarry & Concrete Products, Masson & Glennie and is in association with Katrina Reid Photography and East Balthangie Caravan Park.

The professional, high-quality display is again being supported and managed by Fireworx Scotland.

The evening this year will be hosted by Buchan Community Radio and Miss Galaxy Grampian, Emma Watson, will be in attendance to start the event in style.

As well as the fireworks spectacular there will also be fairground rides, food stalls, toy sellers and street entertainment from the Aberdeen Fire Spinners and great music throughout the evening, with a son et lumiere presentation for the fireworks.

There is free entry to this year’s event, with donation collections on the night with a suggested £10 per person donation, or as much as visitors can afford to donate.

The group’s first event was held in 2014 and again in 2015 and to-date has raised more than £6,500 for UCAN, the urological cancer support charity based at ARI.

This year’s target is £10,000.
