FISSH fun day announced

With work commencing on Fraserburgh’s new swimming pool, sports and community facility on Monday August 22, FISSH have been busy continuing with their fund raising efforts to ensure that the new swimming pool has some fabulous attractions which can be enjoyed by the local community and tourists alike.

Speaking to the Herald, FISSH Chairwoman, Doreen Mair, said: “We’re having a Funday at the Community Centre and the Academy Playing Fields on Sunday September 4 from 1pm until 4pm to launch our ‘Splash for Cash’ week.

“The funds raised will go towards the new internal water flume and other fun facilities.”

Giving a preview of entertainment to be provided, Doreen continued: “Entertainment will include the Deveron Brass Band, Inferno Fire Troupe, Emma Stephen highland dancers, Zumba with Karen Gibson and Zumbatomics.

“Brian Topping will provide music throughout the day and one young gentleman has even offered to do a sponsored Full Body Wax - if he’s at home.

“There will also be a Fun Run open to all Primary School children organised by the Junior Joggers with registration at 1pm and races starting at 2pm, this event is being sponsored by Newline.

“We have a Ballon Race, Tombola, Whisky Wheel, Bottle Stall, Beat the Goalie, Soft Play, Bouncy Castle, Curling, PlayYour Cards Right, Lucky Dip, Face Painting and Hairspraying. Along with Ice Cream, Burgers and Teas.”

The Funday will also provide the public with further information about how they can become involved in the new facility, Doreen continued: “There will also be A Public Art consultation by Aberdeenshire Council where people can find out how to get involved in what artwork goes into the new Complex.

“We are sure that there is something for everyone to enjoy, and look forward to seeing everyone.”
