Five rescued off Fraserburgh coast

Five crew members have been rescued from a fishing vessel that caught fire forty miles off the Fraserburgh coast.

Fraserburgh Lifeboat and a rescue helicopter were sent to save the crew of the Karinya after the alarm was raised at 1pm.

The vessel had sent out an emergency broadcast which was picked up by the coastguard and a nearby fishing vessel.

The crew were rescued from a liferaft after abandoning the trawler when it caught fire.

No-one was injured in the incident.
