BROCH folk are being encouraged to support Fraserburgh Academy’s Golden Jubilee celebrations next month.

It’s 50 years since the ‘new’ academy was opened by Princess Margaret.

On Wednesday, November 14 the academy is staging an Open Day to which the whole community is being invited.

Depute headteacher Pauline Buchan told the Herald: “We are hoping that we’ll get lots of members of the public coming up to have a tour of the school and enjoy a short concert and some refreshments with us.

“On the day we will have a display of photographs and memorabilia, a tour of the school, a concert and a tea party. If you are interested in coming along to join in our celebrations, please complete the form (right) and return it to me.

“We are also very keen to put on a display of old pictures and material from through the 50 years and to do this we would like to put out an appeal.

“We would like to ask members of the public to let us borrow any photos or artifacts which we could display on the day.

“Anyone with such material should get in contact with me directly on 01346 515771 or email Pauline.Buchan@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
