Five Fraserburgh women have raised an incredible £114,000 after an 11-year fundraising campaign for local cancer charity Friends of ANCHOR.
Cheryl Stephen, Tina Gibbins, Edie Paul, Val Esslemont and Sandra Simpson have organised a number of events over the past 11 years including a day at the races, raffles and their annual charity dance held at the Ban Car Hotel, Lonmay.
Local couple Ian and Angela Ritchie also gave a great boost to ANCHOR funds at the Ocean Dawn and Sunrise golf day tournament which raised £1,700.
Commenting, Tina Gibbins said: “We continue to raise money for Friends of ANCHOR as we have all been touched by cancer in some way; either we have been treated or have visited relatives or friends who have received excellent care at the ANCHOR Unit.
“We would like to thank all the local individuals and businesses who continue to generously support our fundraising each year and ultimately help us to raise valued funds for such a worthwhile cause.”
Friends of ANCHOR PR and Fundraising Executive, Rhona Miller, commented: “We are incredibly grateful to the ladies for their continued support over the past eleven years.”
All the money raised by the women has gone directly towards supporting cancer and haematology patients in the North-east. All of the charity’s running and administration costs are covered by sponsorship from Balmoral Group.
