Dozens of teams from across Aberdeen City and Shire will be giving their all as they try to win one of Run Garioch’s two Team Challenge prizes in the Dandara 10k on Sunday, March 23.
Competition for the Inverurie Business Challenge prize looks set to be particularly fierce, as a team from inaugural winners William Lippe Architects has set their sights on reclaiming the coveted shield from last year’s winners, Zenith Oilfield Technology.
Stuart Naysmith from William Lippe Architects said, “We’ve taken part in the Garioch 10K as individuals since the first run nine years ago, so we were thrilled to win the first Inverurie Business Challenge prize in 2012. Both our runners and our workplace get a lot out of taking part. It’s great for team morale and team building in and out of the office, not to mention the obvious advantage of keeping our workforce fit.”
He added: “This year we have 12 staff members taking part across Run Garioch and there’s a real buzz about the office. We’re working hard to get that shield back!”
Speaking for their rivals in the competition, Barry Cameron from Zenith Oilfield Technology said, “For the second year running, we’ll be entering the Run Garioch 10k and we’re hoping to defend our title as the fastest team in the AB51 postcode. Our team worked incredibly hard last year to gain this title, with a combined time of just over three hours. The team is back this year, fighting fit and anticipating bringing the shield back home to Zenith!”
Both teams will face stiff competition from others taking part on the day, including entries from Wood Group, Theon, Osprey3, the Scottish Agricultural College, Fintray Thistle FC, Colony Park Juniors FC, Inverurie Loco Works FC, Dandara, Scottish Athletics and ADIL.
Run Garioch 2014 will take place on Sunday, March 23.
