Along with family members and friends, young residents of the Broch took part in the Gala’s Sandcastle Competition at the beach.

Held on the second day of the gala, youngsters from Fraserburgh and the surrounding area got out their buckets and spades for what turned out to be a fierce contest.

After two hours of building and decorating their castles and moats, prizes were awarded in a number of categories.

The categories included best sandcastle, biggest sandcastle and most
unusual sandcastle.

The winners of the best sandcastle category were Ashley Slessor and Chloe Buchan. The award winners were presented with trophies and
certificates.

The competition was judged by Lorraine Tait and Linda Waller along with organiser Pamela Munro.

Results for the sandcastle competition were as follows:

1st place: Ashley and Chloe - ‘Hello Kitties’; 2nd: Shanna and Keira - ‘One and a half girls’; 3rd: Gregor and Fraser - ‘Double Trouble’.

Biggest Sandcastle: Matthew and Carly - ‘Junior Psychos’.
