THE ground-breaking for Mintlaw’s first ever church will take place this Friday (September 9) at 7pm.
Construction work at the Newlands Road site will then begin proper on Monday for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The local community is being invited to attend Friday’s historic event along with a host of local dignitaries, when Bishop Alistair Smith will cut the first sod.
Work on the church is expected to be completed by the Spring of next year and will house a congregation of around 100-150 and accommodate eight teaching areas.
It will mark the completion of an epic journey for the church having purchased the land some 18 years ago.
