A number of Buchan community groups have picked up £30,000 in grant cash from Aberdeenshire Council as part of the Buchan Area Initiatives Fund.

Representatives from the groups gathered at a recent meeting of the Buchan Area Committee when they were presented with cheques by committee chairman Councillor Stuart Pratt.

The fund is run by Aberdeenshire Council and managed by the Buchan Development Partnership. It works to enable groups to carry out sustainable projects that deliver a wide range of community benefits. The fund also provides opportunities for match funding which helps to attract external funding into Buchan.

The groups which received monies included the Strichen, St Fergus, and Boddam and District Community Associations, Longside Parish Church, Buchanhaven Heritage Society, Port Erroll Harbour Management Committee, Hatton Public Hall, Friends of Maud Railway Museum, Lonmay Public Hall Trust, Cruden Bay Recreation Park and Friends of Aden Country Park.

The funding ranged from awards of £1000 to £3000 for each group, with £30,000 being awarded in total.
