Local chef and resident, Kipras Preidys, recently represented the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses and Fraserburgh at the Taste of Grampian awards.
The head chef at the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, Kipras had recently travelled to take part in the Taste of Grampian’s Young Aspiring Chef competition in Inverurie, competing against other chefs in Aberdeenshire.
“It was a different experience for me,” Kip, who has been working at the museum since 2013, told us.
“To be busy for one hour, it was a really big challenge for me, but we made it.”
Kip had been required to create and plate his food creations alongside the other competitors for judging, and, while he did not win the competition, is keeping his head up on his future prospects.
“I was happy with my food. Unfortunately, I didn’t win it, but it’s all about experience.
“It’s, all the time, good to get a different kind of taste of different aspects of our industry.
“I will definitely go back, and I will definitely do more competitions,” he added.
Kip’s next big challenge, he hopes, will be the Lithuanian Chef of the year competition, taking place later this year in his home country of Lithuania.
