Volunteers from Fraserburgh Heritage Society who run the four-star attraction of Fraserburgh Heritage Centre are delighted that they have been awarded funding from Aberdeenshire Council’s area top up fund which will enable the society to undertake repairs to the building and maintain and upgrade displays.

The volunteers at the Centre work throughout the winter months upgrading displays, providing interactive child friendly exhibitions that bring the heritage of Fraserburgh to life. However, the roof of the building, a former cooperage, has been leaking and essential repairs are required to prevent rain from penetrating.

Commenting on the grant, Councillor Ian Tait told the Herald: “I have been working with the Heritage Society volunteers to see how we can move forward and am delighted to say that the Area Committee have granted £5250 to do necessary works that will help ensure the building is water tight so the Centre can keep going.”
