It’s kilts and sporrans at the ready in Mintlaw this Sunday as the annual pipe band competition returns to Aden Park.
Eighteen North-East bands will battle it out for the coveted Champion of Champions title as the piping season comes to a close.
Visitors are in for a treat as sponsors - the Buchan Pipe Band - host the fun-filled family day, welcoming plenty of local stall holders selling everything from candy floss and sweeties to whisky and wine. There will also be a bouncy castle and other entertainment for children and a local caricaturist will be on site.
Dancers from around Buchan will also be hoping to fling their way to success in the Highland dance competition which begins at 10am.
Piping begins at 12.30pm, with Buchan Pipe Band member Helen Simpson saying that the band was looking forward to the competition and looked forward to a great turnout. She told the Buchanie: “Last year we had about 3,000 people.
“Of course, that’s weather dependent. Let’s just hope the weather is nice!”
Tickets are £4 (£2 concession) and £10 for a family of four, so head along and join in the fun!
