While completing their weekly Thursday training session, crew members of the Fraserburgh Lifeboat were called out to offer assistance to the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets.

The Sea Cadets had planned to row from Fraserburgh to Sandhaven as part of a sponsored challenge to raise funds to develop their activities, before finding themselves in difficult conditions at sea.

Coxswain Victor Sutherland, mindful of the conditions, had been concerned for the cadets’ safety and had “The Willie and May Gall” in position just as the cadets were sending out the call for assistance.

Lifeboat crew members James Taylor and Amy Allan transferred to the rowing boat and the transfer of sea cadets to the Trent class lifeboat
began.

Escorting the cadets back to the harbour, they enjoyed refreshments in the comfort of the station before the second lifeboat crew departed to complete the night’s
training.

A number of pictures taken of the evening are available to view on the Fraserburgh Lifeboat’s Facebook page, a link to which can be found at www.facebook.com/FraserburghHerald.
