Aberdeenshire Sports Awards

Aberdeenshire Sports Council Sports Awards Evening is to be held at The Venue, Garioch Sports Centre, Inverurie on Friday, March 8.

Nominations are now open for the eight categories.

The sports council is delighted that Olympic Gold medalist Tim Baillie from Westhill is to attend the awards evening as inspiration for the area’s talented sports performers.

The evening is a way of rewarding and acknowledging local sports people in Aberdeenshire for their commitment to and/or achievement in sport during 2012 (or in the case of the Service to Sport category over many years).

More than 60 nominations were received for last year’s awards. All nominees are invited to attend together with a certificate to recognise their contribution to sport.

It’s a great opportunity for sports clubs and other organisations to nominate the sports talent in their midst and give local sports people and volunteers the acknowledgement they deserve.

Winners of each of the following nine categories to be announced will receive a very attractive award: Sports Personality of the Year, Young Male Sports, Personality of the Year, Young Female Sports Personality of the Year, Coach of the Year Award, Team of the Year Award, Club of the Year Award, Service to Sport Award, Outstanding Achievement of the Year Award.

Nominations can be completed online at: www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/recreation/sports_council/ nomination_form.asp

The closing date for nominations is February 11.
