THERE is a packed programme in the offing for this Summer's Invercairn Gala.

The annual event is being held from the 4th to 10th August at Inverallochy Playing Fields.

Over the year's the Invercairn Gala has been regarded as one of the biggest draws in the Summer calendar. This year looks set to be no different.

On Monday, 4th August, the Gala kicks off with the Children's Treasure Trail, which start from the Marquee at 6.00pm return to Marquee by 7.30pm. The cost is 1.00 per person entry fee (which includes free juice and crisps).There are Prizes for the winners.

"We should stress that the use of cars is prohibited in order to make it fairer for all the children," said a spokesperson for the Gala Committee.

The next day, Tuesday, 5th August, the Hurdy and Pram Race starts at 6:00pm at Corn Rd / Allochy Rd junction.

"All entries and enquires should be made to to Peter T Michael as soon as possible," he added.

There will also be a Junior 'Stars in Their Eyes' Show in Marquee, only following on after Hurdy Race at 7.00pm.

"All entries and enquires should be made to Elaine B by August 1 at the latest," said the spokesperson.

The Horse Racing Night, in the Marquee, following on after Junior Stars in Their 'Stars in Their Eyes' at approx. 8.00pm, which includes a licensed bar, with hamburgers and refreshments etc. on site.

Wednesday, 6th August, sees even more taking place in the Marquee:

The Junior Bingo will take place in Marquee at 2:00pm, the cost being 1 per book. That evening, the Quiz Night & 'Talent-less' Show will be held in Marquee, starting at 7.00pm (including. licensed bar).

The entry fee is 10.00 per team of '4' (2 per extra person in team), with hamburgers and refreshments on site.

The Talent-less show follows at approx. 9:30pm.

"All entries and enquiries to Georgie R. or Peter T. by Mon 4th August at the latest," he added.

On Thursday, 7th August, there will be a Junior Disco from 4.00 to 6.00pm in Marquee. Entry costs 1.50.

Later that evening, the Prize Bingo will be held in the Marquee at 8:00pm (including a licensed bar), with hamburgers and refreshments on site. There will be a Disco / Karaoke to follow.

The Fancy Dress Parade will take place on Friday, August 5. It is open to all ages and every entry receives 1.

"It will start from school grounds at 6.00pm then parade around 'part' of villages, led by flute band and finish up at Marquee. It will be held in Marquee if weather is inclement," the spokesman explained.

Friday night also sees the Live Band and Disco from 9.00pm till 1.00am (including. licensed bar) starring the fabulous 'Aquarious', with hamburgers and refreshments etc. on site.

"Admission is by ticket only, which are priced at 8.00 each. Door stewards will be manning the entrances and ID will be required to obtain an 18 and over wristband.

"In addition, there will be free bus transport back to St Combs and Fraserburgh leaving 1.30am sharp," he added.

Saturday, 9th August (from 1.00pm at Playing Fields) sees a plethora of attractions.

The Gala will be opened at 1.50pm by Mr Robert Tait (formally of Peter's Ices).

Attractions include; Giant Rock Climbing Wall, Giant Inflatable Laser Quest, Two Bouncy Castles and other inflatable's, the Pipe Band, Fraserburgh Archery Club, a Fire Engine appliance, Karate and Kick-Boxing displays, a Fortune Teller, Ladies and Gents Tug-O-War, Circus and Magic Acts, lots of Arts and Crafts, a Baby Show, a Waste Awareness bus, open 5-a-side football, Face painting and 2wit2woo Owl & Raptor Rescue Display.

There will also be many stalls including; Target Golf, Whisky Wheel, Sponge Stocks, Lucky Dips, Plate Smashing, balloon race and various others.

Food galore will also be in the offing with Candy floss, Candy Apples (and candy grapes), Kippers, Burgers, Hot Dogs, Teas, Crisps, Juice, Ice Cream (and strawberries), Sweeties and a Beer Tent.

Later that evening, at the Marquee Extravaganza, you can dance the night away with the fabulous and long awaited '5th Avenue' band, kicking off from 8.30pm till late (including a licensed bar).

"Admission is by ticket only. These are priced at 12.00 per head. Please note this is strictly an over 18's event. Door stewards will be on duty," the spokesperson added.

* There will be free bus transport back to St Combs and Fraserburgh leaving 1.30am sharp.

On Sunday, 10th August, the 2008 Gala winds up with Invercairn Gala Praise at 3.00pm in Invercairn Community Hall with host Ken Cowe from Waves Radio.

"Tickets are now on sale from Peter's, Londis and the Golf Club.

Donations for Raffle, Bottle Stall and Home Bakes can be made to any Committee member.
