Awards presented to local dancers

Three local dance pupils have recently celebrated their success at the Lowe School of Dance.

The pupils recently gained the British Association Teachers of Dance Associate Award, which now allows them to teach Highland Dancing.

The dancers, Debbie Porter, Lynn Rennie and Amy McRobbie, have all been pupils of the school from an early age, the Fraserburgh Herald understands.

One of the principals of the School, Myra Lowe, also passed her fellowship exam with the British Association Teachers of Dance, and, at the annual conference in Glasgow this year, was awarded with Life Membership of the Association.

The girls, however, did not have long to rest following their success.

They, along with other dancers from the Lowe School of Dance, were straight back into rehearsals for the Auld Meal Mill, which took place in the Music Hall in Aberdeen last month.

The show was a great success and the girls can now look forward to performing their dances again at the Buchan Hertiage St Andrew’s night ceilidh on November 30.

The ceilidh takes place on November 30 in the Ritchie Hall, Strichen.

The dancers have been booked to perform again for the Auld Meal Mill at the Music Hall next September.
