Baptist Church to celebrate 173rd year

This coming weekend (January 26 and 27), the Fraserburgh Baptist Church will celebrate its 173rd anniversary.

The special speaker for the weekend is Pastor Michael Rollo of the Larbert Pentecostal Church near Falkirk.

Michael was brought up in Rosehearty with his sister Gail, children of Geordie and Dorothy.

He started work in the Bank of Scotland before moving to Cosalt. He also did some part-time bus driving. Michael is married to Diane (Wiseman) from Gardenstown, and together they have four children and two grandchildren.

He has been Senior Pastor of the Church in Larbert since 1989 where Diane is also a member of the pastoral team.

He served as the administrator of the Assemblies of God Scottish Regional Council and as a member of the Regional Executive for 14 years, but in recent years he has stepped back from Regional office to devote more time to the local assembly. He was also a director of the Scottish Bible Society for eight years until 2009, when he retired as part of the Board’s rotational
policy.

He was also a director of ‘Positive Steps’ and one of the Religious Representatives on Falkirk Council Education Committee.

Today, he is Chaplain to Stenhousemuir Football Club and also part of the chaplaincy team at Larbert High School and Carronshore Primary School, and is currently a representative on the Falkirk Multi Agency Domestic Abuse
Forum.

In recent years, Michael has ministered overseas in the Philippines, Kenya, Ukraine, USA, Hawaii, Ireland, India, Austria, Brazil, Belarus, Burundi, North-west Spain and Burkina Faso. Recently, he has completed a post graduate Master’s degree in practical theology, where his dissertation was on the work of the Holy Spirit in Scotland in the 20th Century.

The weekend commences on the Saturday evening at 7:00pm, with a social where Fiona Campbell, Annita McDonnell and John Buchanan will be singing various musical items.

On the Sunday, there will be two Church services as normal at 11am and 6pm, both at which Pastor Michael Rollo will be speaking and John Buchanan, from Hopeman, singing.

You will be made very welcome to join at any or all of the meetings. If you would like to find out more about the church you can visit its website at www.fraserburghbaptist.co.uk.
