College to hold annual careers event
Students in the Atrium of Banff and Buchan College.
Banff and Buchan College is to host its annual careers showcase on Tuesday February 19.
A record number of exhibitors are set to attend the event, which is aimed at school pupils, college students and those who are re-evaluating their career paths and considering employment in the Oil and Gas sector, engineering or manufacturing industries. The event will be held at the main College Campus in Fraserburgh and will run from 6pm to 8pm.
David Cook, Assistant Principal, Banff and Buchan College, Business and Skills, said: “We are excited to host, what has become, an eagerly awaited event. It is an ideal opportunity for North East companies to meet and share their dynamic recruitment needs with the emerging talent coming from schools, colleges and the workforce in the area.
“This year we are ringing the changes by broadening the event to include all employment opportunities within Engineering and Manufacturing businesses in addition to those operating within the Oil and Gas sector. We are anticipating over a thousand visitors on the evening and expect to see a good mix of young adults and students that are thinking about their career choices and adults who are looking at available employment opportunities or who may be considering a career change.
“This evening is a touchstone for anyone thinking about a career in these industries whether in school, college, the armed forces or alternative professions. We are delighted to welcome some new exhibitors this year including Fisher Offshore, Transocean and Bristow Helicopters.”
College staff will be on hand to discuss the options available to support career aspirations including: Modern Apprenticeships; Open/Blended Learning (home/college mix study); full and part-time courses; articulation routes with Aberdeen College and Robert Gordon University; and entry points for HM forces.
Andrew Cooper, Training Manager for Gray and Adams in Fraserburgh commented: “As a progressive company dedicated to the design and manufacture of bespoke temperature-controlled specialist transport equipment, we are once again delighted to attend this important event. It enables us to meet potential employees and explain face to face the career opportunities within our business.”
