Family Centre public meeting
A PUBLIC meeting will be held in Fraserburgh next week (Tuesday, June 30) to discuss plans for a replacement family centre in the town.
The current family centre provides social work services to the most vulnerable children and families in the area and is currently based in Bervie Road.
It is a well established resource and has been an integral part of the local community since 1993, but service demand has outgrown the existing accommodation.
The centre offers a wide range of support to children and their families in order to decrease social isolation, provide opportunities for parents to enhance their parenting skills and offer ongoing emotional and practical support to vulnerable children.
It provides support mainly to children under 9 and strives to work in partnership with parents to effect positive change, alongside colleagues in health, education and voluntary services.
It is proposed to build a new purpose-built centre to better serve the community a short distance from the current facility, within the site of Westfield School.
It will enable Aberdeenshire Council to continue to develop and respond to the needs of the local community and to offer ongoing support through a needs-led service.
It is anticipated that the improved facility will enable greater opportunities for cross service working and building use.
Anyone with an interest is welcome to attend the meeting to talk about how the plans will proceed.
The meeting will take place at Westfield School, Fraserburgh at 7pm on Tuesday, June 30.
