Fetterangus accident victim appeal

Police are appealing to members of the public to report sightings of a male with a suspected head injury after he was struck by a car this morning at approximately 6.50am.

The accident occured on the unclassified road between the A950 Station Road at Mintlaw and the village of Fetterangus near a property called The Lodge.

The vehicle stopped and the driver spoke with the male who is described as being in his early 20’, 5’6” - 5’7” and wearing dark clothing, a hooded top, wearing head phones and spoke with a local accent.

It is believed he may have an injury to the right side of his head a result of the incident. The man left the scene before the emergency services arrived.

He also spoke to another member of the public in Fetterangus at around 7.20am and he appeared to be confused and again made off on Ferguson Street near Chalmers Place.

Sergeant Scott Gove said: “We are keen to trace the man to ensure that he is safe and well and would ask anyone who may know him or for the individual himself to contact us.

“A search of the local area is underway by police officers and given the prevailing winter weather conditions, we would also appeal to local residents to check outbuildings, sheds and garages in case the man is injured and need of assistance in the local area.”

Anyone who may know the man or who sees an individual who matches the description should contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700 or if you prefer to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
