FISSH fun day bathed in sunshine

The sun shone on the FISSH Fun Day at James Ramsay Park recently. There was plenty going on with tombolas, BBQ, dancers, stalls, Beat the Goalie etc.

The plans for the new swimming, sports and community complex were on view with a diagrammatic of the new internal water flume.

FISSH committee chairman, Doreen Mair said: "Everyone was absolutely delighted at what they saw, with adults and kids alike looking forward to trying out the flume for the first time.

"The main effort of the day however was to see how far round a mock up of the new 6 lane pool we could get with the 20p's which people had been saving up for us in Smartie Tubes over the past few months.

"We were absolutely astounded that we managed to get round the perimeter TWICE!!

"If anyone has still their tubes at home – fear not you can still hand them in to any of the committee members and we will give you a certificate complete with the amount you raised and the distance round the pool equivalent to that amount.

"Already a few more tubes have been handed in – maybe we can get round even farther. So the full amount raised on the day is still unclear but so far we reckon to have bumped up your fund by another 2,400! You're doing a great job!" she added.

Doreen also expressed the group's gratitude to everyone involved in helping on the day:

"We would also like to thank all those who helped the Committee on the day, especially Brian Topping for providing the music and acting as announcer/compere, Steven Summers 610 Dancers, the local scouts who provided much needed assistance to man various stalls,

Invercairn Gala Committee for again very generously giving us the use of their stalls and BBQ, the Active Schools people for their help, Dennis Gordon's' for the Bouncy Castle and Bicocchis for Ice Cream. Also thanks to the individual helpers on the day," she added.
