Fraserburgh Academy pupils are preparing to put on a fund-raising show.

The production, called ‘Keep Queen Alive’ is part of a wider evening of entertainment to raise money for Marie Curie. And, as the name suggests, the show has been inspired by the music of Freddie Mercury.

The show is to be held on Thursday June 6 2013 at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels, starting at 7pm. The event includes a meal as well as the performance which will take place throughout the evening, before finishing with a ceilidh. There will also be raffles and an auction. Tables of 10 are priced at £1000 per table.

Pupils at the Academy are in the process of writing letters to businesses to invite them to buys tickets for the event. The pupils will also ask for auction prizes, raffle prizes and sponsorship for drinks. Total, the school’s business partner, is the main sponsor for the event.

As well as the main production itself, there will also be a dress rehearsal at Fraserburgh Academy, on June 5, which parents and family members will be able to attend.

Fraserburgh Academy is no stranger to fund-raising, having already raised £2000 through events at the school.

Community Fund-raiser for Marie Curie in North-east Scotland, Roxanne Hadley commented: “We’re delighted that the Academy have chosen us again. All the money raised will be spent in the North-east.”

Commenting, pupil Katie McLennan, who is a cast member in the production, said: “It’s going to be an amazing night. It’s a great charity to be raising money for.”

Fellow pupil Laura Scott, who is chairperson of the academy’s Enterprise in Education Committee, added: “Everyone is enjoying preparing for the performance and is committed to it. We’re delighted to be fund-raising for Marie Curie.”
