Fresh flooding for the district

Flooding on Murison Drive.

Residents in Fraserburgh and the surrounding area are counting the cost of the damage caused by severe storms last weekend.

Heavy rain and gales hit towns and villages across the North-east including Fraserburgh and Rosehearty.

Murison Drive in Rosehearty was badly affected, with water coming close to, but not going inside, properties on the street. Eight to ten houses were affected and sandbags were deployed.

Meanwhile, the road between Fraserburgh and Sandhaven was closed from mid-morning to late afternoon on Sunday on safety grounds.

Commenting, Troup councillor Hamish Partridge said: “I went down to Rosehearty myself with one of the council officers to investigate.

“The council came with sandbags, but the staff was a bit shorter with it being Christmas. We did what we could on the day and I’m hoping for a meeting with flood prevention officers after Christmas to find a solution.

“This is a reoccurring problem that needs to be addressed and a solution found.”
