Buchan folk are set to show how much they love Aden Country Park, in Mintlaw, by attending the forthcoming ‘Wild About Aden’ event which is taking place during national “Love Parks Week”.

Wild About Aden is a free, two-day event, which will take place on Wednesday, July 25, and Thursday 26, from 10am to 3pm.

Now in it’s second year, Wild About Aden hopes to build upon the great success of last year where over 6,000 people visited the park over the two days.

This year’s event will feature a range of different family friendly activities including: outdoor nature sessions for younger children and their parents; animal handling workshops; bush craft; a selection of rare breed animals from Doonies Farm and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust; circus skills; face painting, environmental art, Zoolab, mini beast hunt, mini Olympics, storytelling; treasure hunt, art by numbers, wildlife crime caravan, RSPB, tae kwon do demonstration, and Woodland Zumba!

Wild About Aden is a partnership project between Aberdeenshire Council Central Buchan Community Learning, the Ranger, Museum and Library Services, Rare Breeds Survival Trust, Doonies Farm, among others, and is designed to provide two days of family fun within the beautiful setting of Aden Country Park.

It is hoped that the event will promote family learning opportunities through a range of hands on experiential learning, whilst raising awareness of the local environment and North East farming heritage.

Neil Shirran, Aden development worker, said: “The second Wild About Aden event should prove to be a really fun, enjoyable two day event for all the family.

!We wanted to celebrate Love Parks Week and we saw this as a great opportunity to be part of it.

“Sometimes I think people forget what fantastic parks and green spaces we have in Aberdeenshire and Wild About Aden really showcases what Aden Country Park has to offer.”
