Ice cream awards for Peters

Peters Ice Cream have won a host of awards at the Royal Highland Show.

There was cause for celebration at Peter's Ice Creams recently as the famous Buchan iuce-cream maker achieved four awards at the Royal Highland Show.

The ice-cream maker beat off stiff competition at the show in Edinburgh and received three Bronze awards and two Silver awards.

Owners Elizabeth and Peter McLennan entered the competition for the first time after having a break from entering the National Ice-Cream Alliance competitions, which they last entered three years ago.

Elizabeth (53), told the Herald she was "delighted" to have won the awards, but joked that they won't be revealing their secret ice-cream recipe just yet:

"We're just absolutely chuffed that we got the awards and we are still doing well in the community.

"Local people come in the shop a lot and it is a great boast to achieve these awards and know that we are appreciated. But we can't give away our recipe, it's top secret!," she joked.

The ice-cream shop, which is located in Cairnbulg just outside of Fraserburgh, has been open for six years, but the company dates back to the 1960s and is famous with local people of all ages.

Elizabeth added: "When people hear the ice-cream van it's not just young kids that come running out, surprisingly!

"It's great to know that we are still so popular locally. It's quite an achievement to have achieved these awards and we are so proud."

With three full-time members of staff and three ice-cream vans that cover as far as Stuartfield, Fyfie and Turriff, the popular store is constantly kept busy.

Peter's Ice-Creams is open from 7am to 8pm. seven days a week.
