Lifeboat called out to aid stricken trawler

editorial image

Fraserburgh RNLI Lifeboat The Willie and May Gall was called out on Tuesday afternoon to a report that the Buckie-registered trawler Discovery had suffered engine failure two miles south of Rattray.

With coxswain Victor Sutherland, mechanic Gordon Ainslie, and crew members James Taylor, Jason Flett, Stephen Watt and Stephen Brown aboard they wasted no time in arriving on the scene and securing a tow.

They then towed the Discovery to the entrance of Fraserburgh harbour before transferring her to the local pilot boat Ailsa which guided her to a berth near the shiplift so she could be inspected in the morning.
