Lonmay turbine gets go-ahead
A third of wind farm applications that are originally knocked back by local authorities are later approved by the SNP government
Planning permission for a single wind turbine at a site in Lonmay has been granted by councillors.
At a recent meeting of the Banff and Buchan Area Committee, councillors gave permission for the erection of a wind turbine at Cortes Gardens, Lonmay.
The application for the project was submitted by Green Cat Renewables, Midlothian Innovation Centre, Roslin, on behalf of Mr Colin Campbell, Stoneridge, Lonmay.
The applicant is seeking full planning permission for one wind turbine, with a total height of 66.62 metres, a mast height of 49.9 metres and a blade diameter of 33.4 metres.
The decision to grant planning permission came despite the council planning department’s main recommendation to refuse the application.
No representations were made in relation to the planning application. Consultees including BAA, NATS and the MoD raised no objections to the project.
