Mobile Healthpoint for the Broch

PEOPLE in the Fraserburgh will now be able to discuss a range of different health issues at a new mobile Healthpoint being set up at three different locations within Fraserburgh three days a week.

The mobile Healthpoint is manned by Healthpoint advisor, local woman, Pamela Matthew, who has a background in nutrician with the NHS.

Its introduction in Fraserburgh forms part of drive by NHS Grampian to bring healthcare closer to the communities which they support.

A new Healthpoint has recently been established in Peterhead and there are plans for the mobile Healthpoint to be made a permanent fixtures at a location within Fraserburgh during the summer.

The mobile Healthpoint will be available from 11am and 3pm on Tuesdays at the Broch Centre, on Wednesdays at Fraserburgh Hospital and on Fridays at Fraserburgh Library, when visitors can stop off to discuss a whole range of topics.

These might include isssues relating to lifestyle, for example someone with a long-term health condition can ask a question rather than having to speak to a GP. Issues discussed will include weight management and healthy eating. Someone can also have a lifestyle check which involves taking a record of someone's health, weight and blood pressure plus free advice on how to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

There will be information for people on how to access NHS facilities and even registering with a GP and different food taster events on different days too. As well as talking to Pamela you can also pick up leaflets on a range of different health-related issues.

The mobile Healthpoint will also tie in with different health campaigns being run within Grampian - current issues featuring sexual health with chronic kidney disease being highlighted shortly.

There will also be an opportunity to ask Pamela to go along and give talks to local groups and organisations about the Healthpoint service.

For further information on how Fraserburgh's mobile Healthpoint can support you or your group please call Pamela on 07876258652.
