MSP marks the Holocaust

North East Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes has commemorated the Holocaust by signing a Book of Commitment in the Scottish Parliament.

Holocaust Memorial Day, on Sunday January 27, marked the 68th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Mrs McInnes said: “The Book of Commitment is a way that MSPs can publicly mark their commitment to remembering the Holocaust and ensuring that its lessons are never forgotten.”

The Holocaust Educational Trust, with the support of the Scottish Government, offers two post-16 pupils from every school and college in the country the opportunity to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau as part of its Lessons from Auschwitz project.

Ms McInnes added: “The project can have a profound impact. Those who take part share what they have learned with their friends, families and the wider community as ambassadors for the Holocaust Educational Trust.”
