One Voice fundraiser set to pull in the cash

Sam Edwards, CEO of the organisation One Voice for the Kids is getting ready for the first anniversary of the group and their charity Tug of War event due to be held this Sunday.

Commenting on the forthcoming event, Sam told the Herald: “We need the whole community to come along and support this family fun day out, lets make it a memorable day for everyone and raise some funds for charity at the same time.

“Parents watching their children taking part in the tug of war and cheering them on, bouncy castles, a live band, dance groups, fire breathers/eaters and jugglers.

“Catering is being supplied by Braveheart Catering Services, Glasgow and our birthday cake is being donated by Gordons Bakery, Aberdeen.

“The tug of war rope was specially made and donated by Caley Fisheries, Fraserburgh and there are many prizes for the raffles.”

Sam has expressed thanks to the following businesses: Dee Dee’s, Farmfoods, Haldanes, The Bargain Box, Dimensions, Thorntons, S & J’s Gift shop, Sweet Treats, C.A west Garden Store, Franra’s, Websters Bakery, Fraserburgh Golf Course, Indulgence, Cut ‘n’ Curl, Finlays Chip Shop, Riteway, Dick Sports, Power House and Pure Essence Hair & Beauty Studio for all the prizes they donated for the raffle.”

Teams can enter the tug of war competition in advance by downloading an application form from the website: www.onevoiceforthekids or contacting Sam on 07580 092396.

Sam added: “Are you brave enough to have a laugh? Then get your fancy dress on. Be different, think original. Prizes will be awarded for the most original fancy dress, imagine tug of war teams in tuxedos and bow ties, muscle-bound hulks in tutus. Have you ever seen the like? Women dressed up as men and men dressed as women.

“We would like to see teams of young farmers, sea cadets, army cadets and the scouts taking part too. Teams will be allowed to register on the day and we will be encouraging grudge matches.

“So, if you think you have what it takes then put a team of 10 people together and make your way to the tournament on the 6th March. Good luck to you all.”

The event will run from 10am until 4pm on the Links behind the Leisure Centre on Sunday March 6. All proceeds will be donated to charity following deduction of expenses.
