One hundred ex-pupils meet again

MORE than 100 former Fraserburgh Academy pupils attended a reunion to mark the fact that everyone celebrates their 40th birthday this year.

The event, held at Fraserburgh's Station Hotel on Saturday, also raised 836 for FISSH, for the construction of a new swimming pool for Fraserburgh.

One of the organising committee, Elaine Smith (nee Adams) told 'The Herald': "Marilene, myself and other members of the committee would like to thank everyone who attended. We couldn't have done it without you all. It was a very successful evening and it was great to meet all our school friends again. We can't wait until the next reunion and hopefully we will have our new swimming pool built by then."

The committee have also expressed their thanks to everyone who gave a donation, to the staff at the Station Hotel, to Robbie West for the disco and helping everyone relive their youth, to Ted Bartlett for taking the official group photograph and the Herald for all the publicity.

They have also thanked Ronnie Strachan, Boots, Baird's C&A West, Tesco, McDonald Stewart, Garden's Rodgers Electrical, Justrite, Homestyle, Curves, Dick's Sports, James Ferguson, Kessock Service Station, Costcutters, Mintlaw and FISSH for all the donations for the raffle.

Chairman of FISSH, Doreen Mair has expressed her delight at the money raised during the evening: "Thanks to all the 40-year-olds in Fraserburgh for their support. I hope everyone had a good night.

"Thanks must also go to Elaine and the rest of the committee for considering FISSH a worthy recipient of the money."
