Primary 7 pupils from across the area had a taste of Academy life last week when they attended Fraserburgh Academy for their three induction days.

Library staff at the academy invited all the primary schools in the network to take part in a bookmark competition.

Pupils were asked to design an original bookmark to promote reading and staff were inundated with entries from most of the feeder primaries.

Network Librarian, Elaine Robertson, told the Herald: “The standard of entries was very high and it was really difficult to choose the winners.

“On the last day of the P7 transition visit at the academy, the library was open exclusively to the new pupils at lunchtime and various activities were laid on for them. The winners of the competition were also presented with their prizes.

“The winning entries came from Fraserburgh North, St Andrew, Inverallochy, St Combs and Rathen primary schools.”

The entries were on display in the library and new parents were able to see them when they visited for the school induction evening. Children’s entries are also available to view on the Fraserburgh Academy website at www.fraserburghacademy.co.uk under the link Library and latest news on the left hand side.
