The Scottish SPCA is seeking the owner or those interested in rehoming a German shepherd found in an Aberdeen car park with a fractured pelvis.

Police took the three-year-old male dog to a vet after he was discovered unable to stand at the car park on West North Street at 3am on December 18.

The dog received treatment at the vets but as no owner came forward for him within seven days he was signed over into the Scottish SPCA’s care.

Staff at the charity’s Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre have issued an appeal to try to reunite the friendly dog, now named Claus, with his owner.

Centre assistant manager Debbie Innes said, “Claus is currently on six to eight weeks of kennel rest, along with pain relief for his fractured pelvis.

“There is also a possibility he will need a further operation after this period.

“We can’t be sure how Claus sustained his injuries but one possibility is he was hit by a car.

“He’s a real darling who has been so brave throughout his treatment and recovery.

“It would be a real shame if Claus had to spend his full rest period in kennels and we’re sure he’d much rather be back in the comfort of his own home if he has gone missing.

“We really hope someone will recognise this gorgeous boy and come forward.

“If not, we’re sure we’ll be able to find Claus a place to call his own with a loving new owner soon.”

Anyone who recognises Claus or is interested in rehoming him is being asked to call the Scottish SPCA’s Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre on 03000 999 999.
