Temporary classroom go-ahead

PLANS to site a replacement temporary classroom unit at Rathen Primary School have been given the green light by members of Aberdeenshire Council's Banff and Buchan Area Committee.

The application for full planning permission, which had been submitted by the local authority, involves the erection of a detached flat-roofed building measuring 12.1 metres in length, 7.6 metres in width and 4.3 metres in height.

Members heard that the building would be accessed on the northern and eastern elevations via concrete platforms with metal railings.

Access on the eastern elevation is provided with a gentle sloping ramp.

Internally, the building would be used as a classroom with a separate area as an office and store. The total floor space is 81.4 metres.

The existing site is flat and currently retains a number of school buildings including an existing temporary classroom structure which the new structure will replace.
