Wraps taken off Abbey Court complex at Mintlaw

A NEW sheltered housing complex at Mintlaw will be hosting its first open day for members of the public later this month.

The plans for the Abbey Court came five years ago when there was deemed a need for such a facility.

It is a joint venture between Castlehill Housing Association and Aberdeenshire Council, and while there are five similar complexes, Abbey Court, is the only one which is run entirely by Aberdeenshire Council staff.

The impressive new complex will welcome its first residents on September 14 who will move into their own individual apartments.

There are 23 apartments in total and two of these have two bedrooms.

As well as residents having their own flat, they also have access to other facilities within Abbey Court including a kitchen, dining room, laundry facilities and day rooms.

In the future, staff hope to introduce daycare facilities for the area.

Abbey Court was titled by a local primary school pupil named Abbey, as part of a competition to raise awareness about the new building.
