Young Driver roadshow heading for the Broch

THE next in a series of summer roadshows designed to improve the skills of young drivers will be held in Fraserburgh on Thursday, June 3.

Alongside the safer driver tips and techniques on offer, the roadshow will give drivers the opportunity to use a 'seatbelt convincer' device, brake reaction timer, impairment goggles and take part in a demonstration drive.

These roadshows aim to build on a successful event held earlier this month at Banchory.

Constable Raymond Neil said that the turn out and feedback from young people had shown that the events have an important role to play in getting across road safety messages.

"I am delighted that so many young people are willing to take the time to come and see what we had to say and I was impressed by the level of enthusiasm as well as the number of questions that were asked," he said.

"We have, together with our partners, reduced the roads casualty rate across the area by half since 2006 - but any death is one too many."

The roadshow will take place between 6.30pm and 9.30pm at the town's Leisure Centre Car Park, Fraserburgh.
