Young Farmers visit Fraserburgh Lifeboat

Following a visit to the Fraserburgh Lifeboat Station last year one member of the New Deer Young Farmers was so impressed that he applied to join the crew.

His application was successful and now Shane Richardson is a valued trainee member of the crew.

The other members of the New Deer Young Farmers thought that the RNLI was such a worthy cause that they decided to make a donation to their funds with money raised from the proceeds of Burns Suppers, barn dances and raffles.

On Tuesday, January 24 the New Deer Young Farmers travelled to Fraserburgh to present Coxswain Vic Sutherland with a cheque for £500.

Vic told about the history of the Fraserburgh RNLI and during a tour of the station and lifeboat held them spellbound with accounts of daring rescues laced with personal insights into the trials, tribulations and hazards faced by lifeboat crews when the rescue calls are received.

New Deer Young farmers are an organisation to help give people the opportunity to meet people of different ages and have fun enjoying things as a group.

To contact the young farmers you can leave a message on their facebook page at www.facebook.com/pages/New-Deer-Young-Farmers or contact Nicole on 07837470181 or Luci on 07833710926 for more information or to find out dates and places for their next meeting. The club is for ages between 14 and 26.
