Apache looks to the future with students

Students from North East Scotland College joined the team at Apache St Fergus for a week of on-the-job experience.

Over the past fortnight, energy giant Apache hosted Mechanical Engineering students for work experience.

Rebecca Martin and Craig Jones, both 18, are both getting on-site experience at the St Fergus facility as part of their studies at North East Scotland College.

They have spent time in the control room and the lab as well as learning crucial health and safety policies.

Both Rebecca and Craig said they hope to enhance their career prospects with experience.

Stuart Taylor, offshore installation manager of Apache’s Bravo facility said: “The guys who came in from the start are now retiring.

“There wasn’t investment in apprentices in the 90s so now we need to fill that gap.”

Apache’s Fiona Allardyce said: “Schemes like this are an investment for the future because young people like Rebecca and Craig are the future of the industry.”
