Asda Fraserburgh has found the Broch’s longest-married couple as part of the supermarket’s special Valentine’s Day competition.

Fraserburgh couple Robert and Chrissie Clark, who celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary this year, are the winners of a competition to find the Broch’s longest married couple which was launched in the run up to Valentine’s Day on February 14.

The couple, who are well on their way to the platinum anniversary milestone, first met at a local dance when Chrissie was 20 years old and Robert was 22.

After getting married on December 13, 1947, in the Ban Car Hotel, Lonmay, they continued to live locally and subsequently raised their daughter – who entered them into the search.

Chrissie and Robert’s family has expanded over the years and the happy couple now have a total of two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Commenting, Robert said: “We are delighted to have won the competition and hope our story proves to any young couples just starting out that it is possible to have a long and happy marriage!”

To congratulate the couple, Asda in Fraserburgh has given the couple a complimentary bottle of champagne and bouquet of flowers.
