Fraserburgh and district councillor Ian Tait has this month welcomed news that the all-weather sports pitch, near Fraserburgh’s beach, will be resurfaced.
Local sports teams, as well as youngsters, regularly use the pitch which has become worn in areas, leading to the need to replace the artificial surface.
Speaking to us about the project, Councillor Tait said: “I am delighted to be able to tell you that following on from technical investigations on site and discussions with the council’s Infrastructure services department, contractors and the local all-weather pitch management group, the start date of the replacement of the Fraserburgh All Weather Sports Facility all-weather pitch will now commence from Monday, July 28, and will run for approximately eight weeks until September 22, 2014.
“Council officials have spoken to the management group to agree these plans and allow them to plan their summer programme around the work’s schedule and work with the council to offer access to other suitable facilities locally to user groups.
“Clubs will be able to resume normal bookings from late September on what will be a new surface for the main season.”
He added: “I am delighted of course that the artificial pitch will be replaced.
“It has given good service for several years and now the council is going to make sure our local sportspeople will have the finest up-to-date all-weather surface to play on.”
